Liz & Steve are engaged!

First things first: Liz and Steve are an awesome couple with a great story! It’s such an honor to be shooting their wedding next year- it’s going to amazing, I guarantee it! In the meantime, however, we are stoked to be able to share a few teasers from our engagement shoot with them from this past Sunday here in downtown Wilmington, NC.

We started out by meeting up with them at the site of their reception, the classic Hotel Tarrymore. I love the light and the elegance of the dining room of the in-house restaurant, Press 102.

They have this great mirror in one corner of the room, and I love the way it was framing this moment of them.

All these little moments were so great to document – you can really see how caring and comfortable they are with each other.

Steve is in the Marines and Liz works in the film industry, so brought up this amazing idea of incorporating his boots and her camera into some of their images. So cool!

Okay, so I couldn’t help but sneak in this shot of Renee getting a great picture of Liz and Steve…

Vanessa & Riley are married; part 2!

Vanessa and Riley’s wedding, where to even start! First of all, what a beautiful wedding this was! The colors and the setting were so great for this laid-back and charming wedding under the trees at Ft. Fisher. To be honest, I was a little nervous when I woke to thunder and rain at 5:30 the morning of the ceremony, but it cleared up by dawn and turned into a lovely day for a lovely couple.

Tracy & Adam’s engagement session teasers!

We met up with Adam and Tracy down at Wrightsville Beach for an engagement session the first time last Sunday night, only to be pseudo rained-out by a massive amount of dark storm clouds and lightning- the kicker, though? It never rained on WB that night! Whoops! At any rate, we met there again a few days later on a gorgeous afternoon to photograph this gorgeous couple and it was a blast! Adam and Tracy were so much fun that we can’t wait to do it again at their wedding in September! In the meantime, here are few quick previews of this great couple:

Session Giveaway WINNERS: Lindsey and Darrel!

At the start of this year we decided to run a silent little contest as a way to do just a little something extra for our clients, so we held a drawing- the winner of which would receive a free session of their choice.

Well, we are proud to announce (and to display the teasers of) our session giveaway winners: Lindsey and Darrel!

Lindsey and Darrel are getting married this summer and hired us to shoot the wedding, but we were so excited to get to spend a little more time with them and take some engagement photos along the way! We met up with them yesterday for a late afternoon session and I’m really pleased with how their pictures are coming out. I can’t wait to finish them all so they can see all of them. Maternity + Family Session with Jenn’s Family!

Jenn and her family are expecting a new addition soon, and so we were thrilled to be able to have a “hybrid” session with them to get some family shots as well as maternity pics. I’m really happy with how everything came out. If you’re like me and feel like these shots have a little extra awesome to them, it’s because Renee took the lead photographer role on this shoot and really crushed it! She had such cool ideas and really pulled them off!

I love the look of this shot- it’s so cinematic!

Jenn- you have a beautiful family and were so much fun to work with! We can’t wait to meet your littlest one soon!

The Neal family is back!

You may remember the Neal family from a few months ago when we had a family shoot with them. We were so excited to be able to have them in front of our cameras again, this time with their two new additions Gavin and Garrett! Here are just a few teasers from the day:

Amy & Joash’s engagement session!

Amy and I have been friends for over a decade so I was absolutely thrilled when she called to say that she was engaged, and I was honored when she asked us to be her photographers for the wedding. So, of course Renee and I jumped at the chance to head up to NYC to shoot their engagement pictures and to meet Joash! We had such a great time just hanging out with them that I can’t wait until the wedding to do it again!

They were such great and gracious hosts in their city and took us around to a lot of really great locations for their pictures. We had a cloudy day, but a cloudy day in NYC can still be magical!

I absolutely love this picture: Amy and Joash are so great together and you can really see that joy in this one!

Congratulations again, Amy and Joash! We are so excited for you guys and your wedding is going to be such fun. We can’t wait to see you there!

Family session: Devin, Chuck, Ashley, & Heath!

We were so excited when our neighbor Devin booked a shoot with us as a surprise Christmas gift for her mother. We had a great time taking these pictures with Devin, her husband Chuck, her sister Ashley, and her brother in law Heath- I think we all just wished it had been a little warmer!

There was some great light feathering through the trees over at Greenfield Lake park, which may have made up for the chilly air.

Sandi & Lon, Part II
